Meet the Family

As you can tell, we're big on family. Mark and Annette Smith created Family Roots Farm because providing quality beef for their family was a priority. And, as the dream grew, they quickly realized that going back to their ranching/cattle-raising roots could allow them to provide that same quality beef to many other families as well.

As 4th generation farmers/ranchers in the Eloy area, this is home. Our roots run deep here. Growing a herd and producing a nutritional necessity for others felt right and incredibly timely with the current landscape of our nation. Quality, local American Wagyu beef became a part of our family focus in late 2021. Our original herd arrived home to Eloy in December 2022. They've grown a lot since then, eating feed grown on our own farm.

We take pride in our full-circle operation. Our herd consumes their full diet from our crops; including alfalfa, corn, barley, bermuda, triticale and oats. Farming has been sewn into the fabric of our DNA for generations, and having the ability to incorporate those skills so seamlessly with our latest endeavor further proved that we were on the right track.

Since we suddenly have an abundance of manure and straw, we've begun composting. Our goal is that we will begin to incorporate this compost and compost tea into our own crops; allowing us to regenerate our land as nature intended.

Keeping our herd numbers up is important to us. We will accomplish this goal in a number of ways including artificial insemination and building our herd organically with our full-blood Wagyu bull, Mi Torito Michitani Bond. He was born November 13, 2023 and we are excited about his genetics and exceptional breeding.

Our beef is all local; local feed-straight from our farm, local supplements/minerals, and local USDA processing. Our beef is also hormone free. Being farm-to-table allows us to lower our carbon footprint and bring you the highest quality beef possible.

Thank you for trusting our family to serve yours!
